Berkeley County plans to clean up and prepare the 4-H camp and youth fair grounds for the winter. They will also be helping with the Apple Harvest Festival.

Braxton County will operate a food booth and donate the profits to the county’s mud truck event.

Clay County will host a county-wide 4-H service event.

Doddridge County is holding a fundraising dinner and collecting food for the local food pantry.

Grant County 4-H clubs will help set up and operate booths relating to health and safety at the Grant County Health Fair.

Greenbrier County 4-H teen leaders and the 4-H Leaders Association are partnering to sponsor an abandoned pet supply drive. Collected items will go the Greenbrier County Humane Society and Friends for Life animal rescue. Items requested for collection include: dog and cat food, fish oil, blankets, towels, sleeping bags, shredded paper, newspaper and treats. Items can be dropped off at the Greenbrier County WVU Extension office until October 15.

Harrison County is holding a food, clothing, supplies and book drive.

Jackson County will collect food for a local food pantry.

Kanawha County is holding a food drive and will clean up at Camp Virgil Tate.

Marion County is planning a county-wide clean up and recycling project at Camp Mar-Mac from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mason County 4-H’ers will assist in hanging Christmas lights for the annual Christmas light display and drive thru at the West Virginia State Farm Museum.

Mineral County will work with each of the 4-H clubs in their county to collect food for local food pantries.

Mingo County community 4-H club leaders will conduct a dog food drive in their area schools during National 4-H week, October 3-7. On October 8, the adult and teen leader 4-H club members will conduct a dog food drive in the Williamson area.

Monongalia County 4-H will serve dinner at the Rosenbaum Family House, clean up Camp Muffly, and assist with WVU Family Day at the Farm event.

Nicholas County plans to conduct a bake sale to raise funds for the local volunteer fire department.

In Ohio County, The Oglebay Club is collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.

Pocahontas County 4-H clubs will be conducting clean-up and beautification projects in their local communities.

Putnam County will collect coats and nonperishable items for local clothing and food banks.

Ritchie County will host a fall carnival and asks that all participants bring either a canned food item or baby item that will be donated to the local food bank and local pregnancy centers.

Roane County 4-H clubs will help with the county’s annual Youth 4-H & FFA Livestock Sale. 4-H members have been challenged to collect enough food items to outweigh the total weight of all goats participating in the show and sale. The goal is to collect a minimum of 660 lbs., all of which will be donated to the local food pantry, Helping Hand.

Summers County clubs will assist with the community’s annual Railroad Days event.

Wayne County is holding a food, clothing, supplies and book drive. All items will be donated to the Dunlow Food Pantry.

Wetzel County is partnering with the Chamber of Commerce and area businesses to transform a downtown lot into a pocket park. They plan to create flower boxes and plant shrubs, and put in walkways, benches and tables.

Wyoming County 4-H will assist The Way Youth Center in Mullens as they prepare for their grand opening.
