WV Day of Service

Make a difference
in your community! 4-Hlogo-green

Who: 4-H members and clubs (view pre-registered participants)
What: A statewide, one-day 4-H service project to demonstrate the impact of 4-H service to our state
When: Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011
Where: Every county in West Virginia!

4-H is well known for its role in service to individuals, communities, schools, organizations and in countless other areas. Each year within our local 4-H clubs and programs we conduct a variety of service projects which not only benefit these groups, but also benefit those that provide the service to others.

How to get involved

  • E-mail Brent Clark (brent.clark@mail.wvu.edu) to let him know you’re interested or to ask questions.
  • Plan, promote and implement a 4-H service project within your county on Saturday, Oct. 15. See ideas for service projects and get tips on planning
  • You would be responsible on a county or local level for securing your own supplies, materials or funding for your service project.
  • It’s totally up to your county what the project is and how it will take. You have complete control on the planning, promotion and implementation of this event within your county.
  • Report back some basic information on project or projects. This will be in the form of an easy to complete final report that will help us document our overall impact to the state. Examples: What did you do? How many people were involved? How many hours were served? How many people were served?

What is the benefit to you?

  • Your 4-H program will be part of one coordinated countywide service effort, and larger statewide effort that will help demonstrate the impact 4-H can have on your communities and county.
  • This is an important piece to share with local groups, funding bodies, legislators, potential donors, etc…
  • All participating counties will receive a high-quality promotional piece to help promote your 4-H project on that day – and can be used in your county to highlight 4-H year-round.
