Volunteer Leaders Weekend
PURPOSE: The purposes of this conference are to provide leadership training, Shooting Sports instructor training, and recognition for adult 4 H volunteers and to focus on the enhancement of leadership abilities and skills for working with the 4-H program. The 4-H volunteer recognition program is part of the Volunteer Leaders’ Weekend.
WHO: Adult 4-H volunteer leaders, 18 years and older, who serve as volunteers with the West Virginia 4 H program should be invited and encouraged to attend. Adult leaders in shooting sports must be over 18 years of age (must be 18 years of age on or before Jan 1, of the current year). Agents must sign the registration form to verify participant.
WHEN: August 24-26 2012
WHERE: WVU Jackson’s Mill State 4-H Camp
COST: $TBD full-time participants with lodging (Friday dinner – Sunday). Participants who are full-time, with meals and commuting will pay $TBD. Including a scholarship if postmarked by the Friday, July TBD, 2012
Those not registered by the postmarked deadline will pay $TBD for full-time participants staying at WVU Jackson’s Mill and $TBD for full-time participants who commute.
Scholarships – those who register by the postmarked deadline of Friday, July TBD, 2012, will receive a partial scholarship for cost of meals, lodging, and registration fees. Those who do not pre-register by July TBD will pay the entire cost. Please note that Extension Agents do not qualify for scholarships.

This year all counties will make checks payable to West Virginia University; to pay by credit card, a Credit Card Information Form must accompany the registration form.
PROGRAM: The conference program includes leadership learning sessions/workshops, shooting sports instructor training, leader recognition, outstanding speakers, Council Circle, volunteer chorus, fellowship, and fun. The program, designed especially for adult 4 H volunteers, focuses on a different theme each year. It is an excellent opportunity for leaders to learn about the 4-H program, gain leadership skills, complete program certification, make new friends, assist in discussing future plans, and renew enthusiasm for the 4-H program.
COUNTY RESPONSIBILITIES: Inform, encourage, and recruit adult 4-H volunteers to participate in this conference designed especially for them. The state goal is for each county to be represented at State 4 H Volunteer Leaders’ Weekend.
Submit completed registration form and health form with appropriate fees by the pre-registration postmark deadline, July TBD, 2012. Please include the Extension agent’s signature on the form for each leader. Leaders requesting private housing must contact the 4-H Events Coordinator at (304-293-2696) for availability. WVU Jackson’s Mill will require confirmation that the person is registered for the event within ten days of the initial contact. If money for a lodging upgrade is sent in without an availability check with the 4-H Events Coordinator, the upgrade money will not be refunded. The registration form will be posted on the Internet in the Event Packet as soon as it is available.
REFUND POLICY: Request for refunds must be made in writing and faxed/postmarked to: Lindsey Kalivoda-Hartley, 4-H Events Coordinator, 618 Knapp Hall, PO Box 6031 Morgantown, WV 26506-6031, by August TBD, 2012. NO REFUNDS will be made for no-shows. (There is a $15 refund processing fee. No refunds will be made for amounts less than $15 after deduction of the processing fee).
