Shooting Sports Training Weekend

PURPOSE:
To certify adult volunteer leaders who wish to become instructors to teach in their respective counties. Each person attending can be certified in only one area of competency at this workshop.

WHO:
Adult volunteer leaders, must be 21 years of age on or before January 1, of the current year. Extension Agents verify that the attendees have their permission to attend and that they have all necessary documents pertaining to the individual’s volunteer file completed (Volunteer Application, Up-to-Date Signed Code of Conduct, and Child on Campus Training Certificate). All participants attending the weekend training, must successfully complete the instructor training sessions administered by the State 4-H Shooting Sports Committee and demonstrate competent knowledge of curriculum material and instructional techniques to be measured through a written test and teaching practicum. A minimum score of 70% is required on the test and practicum.

COST:
$135 – Full-time participant with dorm lodging (includes meals, and curriculum)

REGISTRATION:
The registration postmark deadline for Shooting Sports Training is Friday, September 9, 2016.

NOTE: Online registration is required with a credit card payment, if you need assistance, please visit your local county extension office for assistance. They can help you get registered online and complete the required up-loadable health history form and code of ethics.

If your county office is paying a portion of your registration, please contact them for a discount code associated with the amount they will be paying. This will in-turn allow you to complete your registration online paying your portion with a credit card.

PROGRAM:
The program will start on Friday evening and close in the afternoon on Sunday. A detailed program will be mailed at the appropriate time. A participant must attend all sessions to become certified. The instructor in each class reserves the right not to certify a person if he/she feels the candidate will not be a competent instructor. Members of the State 4-H Shooting Sports Committee will be teaching workshop. COUNTY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inform, encourage, and recruit adult 4-H volunteers to participate in this conference designed especially for them. The state goal is for each county to be represented at State 4 H Volunteer Leaders’ Weekend/Shooting Sports Training.

Submit completed registration form and health form with appropriate fees by the pre-registration postmark deadline, Friday, September 9, 2016. Please include the Extension agent’s signature on the form for each leader. Send completed forms with a Payment Form to: Shooting Sports Training, c/o 4-H Events Coordinator, 614 Knapp Hall, PO Box 6031, Morgantown, WV 26506-6031.

Leaders requesting private housing must contact the 4-H Events Coordinator at (304-293-2696) for availability. WVU Jackson’s Mill will require confirmation that the person is registered for the event within ten days of the initial contact. If money for a lodging upgrade is sent in without an availability check with the 4-H Events Coordinator, the upgrade money will not be refunded.

REFUND POLICY:
Cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing and faxed/postmarked to: 4-H Events Coordinator, 614 Knapp Hall, PO Box 6031, Morgantown, WV 26506-6031, by Friday, September 9, 2016. NO REFUNDS will be made for no-shows. (There is a $15 refund processing fee. No refunds will be made for amounts less than $15 after deduction of the processing fee).
